Hafbjargarhús was originally built as a boatyard and workshop around 1960 and is about 590 m2.
In recent years, the house has been used as a storage facility for fishing gear and other things. Its location is exciting to bring more life into this historic fish processing area, where the environment used to be filled with people and life when residents had to rely on the sea to provide them with food and employment.
Hafbjargarhúsið has long been in the discussion as a center for culture and various arts. The house is close to Akranes lighthouse and Skarfavör, one of the most beautiful beaches in the country.
The scenarios are based on an analysis of it's development, history and local atmosphere with sustainability in mind. The scenarios are divided into three categories according to the scope of the intervention.
